Raffia (Hula Skirts)
Raffia is a long, fibrous palm leaf that takes on a grassy look when dried. Raffia strands are joined together with a strand of rope that acts as the waistband of a hula skirt. Raffia is used to make hula skirts, mats, and other tropical looking products.
Raffia hula skirts are very popular at luau parties and other tropical events. Raffia is an organic material and has also been processed in long strands and used as ribbon and gift ties.
These skirts come in many widths so you can get the right size for each of your guests, whether those guests are kids or adults. In addition to having hula skirt width raffia, you can also find table skirts that look and act like hula skirts, but are much wider to be able to go around a table.
These skirts are, as we previously stated, created from dried grass types of materials, so any party planner will want to think long and hard about the placement of tiki torches and other flame based party supplies that are used during outdoor celebrations.
