Christmas Party Games

Any Christmas party can be fun and entertaining with the addition of some Christmas games. There are so many games out there, it is difficult to articulate all of them. Here are a few games that we have received from people who wished to remain antonymous. Thank you for your contribution, and I hope that you have fun with all of the party supplies that you got with the discount from submitting these party ideas.

Santa Says

Supplies: Santa Outfit, Antlers, Red (Clown) Nose, Santa Wig, Santa Facial Supplies.
Preparation: Have the “Santa”/leader get dressed in his outfit.  All of the other guests will put on antlers to look like Santa’s reindeer (We are of course using our imaginations here).
Goal: This game is played like Simon Says.  Everyone must follow Santa Christmas Suitethe direction of the leader after he/she uses the phrase “Santa Says.”  Anyone who follows a command that is not prefaced by “Santa Says,” is out.  The winner is made the Honorary Rudolf and is given a red Clown Nose to go with the antler head band to honor his/her achievement. The winner may take the next turn as Santa or the next Santa leader can be determined by a raffle.

This is an ideal game for children's Christmas parties, though I am sure that adults could have a fun time with this game as well. If you want to add to this idea, let us know.

Find the Gifts

Supplies: Santa Gift Sacs, Santa Costume Supplies, Gift Boxes/Gift Bags, Gift Wrap, Bows, rubber stamp Christmas supplies (to be found during the game), Reindeer Antlers, Red nose.
Preparation: Wrap up parts of Santa's outfit, reindeer outfits, and miscellaneous Christmas supplies and hide them throughout the area. Give a player (or groups of players) a Santa Gift Sac to collect the gifts that they are trying to find.
Goal: (Depending on how you choose to play the game) Players or teams must find the packages that will allow the individual/group to dress like Santa/Reindeers. You can also play this game by assigning point values to different parts of the outfits, and then teams would win based on the points that they acquire through finding different articles of clothing and outfits. The host will have to decide which form of the game will be played. There are many ways to play this game, here are a few more suggestions.

  1. After groups/individuals have collected packages, they can choose to trade packages with the other participants if they believe the other team has a part of the Santa/Rudolf outfit. Each article of either costume will have a point value that will let add to the score; non costume items will have a low or negative point value.
  2. Teams will race to find as many gifts as possible and whoever gets back first, opens the gifts, and puts on the outfit pieces will win.

Since there are so many more ways this game can be played, get creative with the point systems, the race elements of the game, and the trading portion of the game. This can be a great game, so have fun and make your party the talk of the North Pole.

The Dice Game

All you need for this game are a few pairs of dice and a whole bunch of wrapped up gifts. You may to make some adjustments to accommodate for space depending on how many guests will be playing this game, but it is a fun and fast paced way to celebrate Christmas. Depending on the number of people involved, either have everyone sit at the same table or at separate tables within close proximity. There will be at least two sets of dice to keep the game going.

A player will roll, if he/she gets a double, he/she gets to roll again and grab one of the presents from under the tree. No one will know what is in the gifts, but people will very quickly decide which gift is "the one to get." once the game gets going (or even by the second turn), people can take presents from one another or from under the tree. This game should last around 10-15 minutes to give everyone a chance to grab a gift. Once the time is up everyone opens their gifts and has a laugh. The gifts can consist of anything. The host will have wrapped the gift before the game, so it is up to the host what gifts are included. Most of the time the gifts consist of white elephant gifts that are given back to the host for use next year, though there should be some candy and other delectable food here and there.

Thanks to Veronica for such a fun idea. This game is now a tradition in her family. She says that everyone has a blast and it is a great way to start the Christmas party, or get tired out right before bed.

I hope these games set you on the right path for Christmas fun. Start getting ready today; it's never too early. Let us know if you have any fun Christmas party ideas that will enrich someone's Christmas party this year.
